"Shoremen at
the Next Level"
October 14, 2006
Andrew
Means and his Indiana Hoosiers hosted Trey Stross and the Iowa Hawkeyes
Saturday in what proved to be both a great football game and an exciting
showcase for the two Shoremen alumni. Andrew
helped his Hoosiers get back into the game when he out-fought a Hawkeye DB for
the ball to give Indiana a first down on
the Iowa three yard line. The 22 yard
catch, his only one of the game, gives Andrew a total of 12 for the season with
a 16.6 YPC average. And while Means and his team earned bragging rights with
their 31-28 win, this was a breakout game individually for Stross. Trey, who is a starter on special teams, saw his first significant time at wide
receiver. He led the Hawkeye receivers
with six catches for 67 yards, and all six receptions produced Iowa first
downs. In other games :
· Matt Kostelnik continues to have a huge
year for Mount Union. The junior safety
tallied his third touchdown of the year when he picked a fumble out of the air
and raced 34 yards for the score. Matt
added four tackles, including his fourth sack of the year, and a 13 yard punt
return.
· Jon Schroeder carried 4 times for six
yards in Ashland’s 24-17 win over
Northern Michigan.
